Why do we do this?
Because we’ve been there.
Born from the shared experience of three young men—Roberto, Joel, and Raz—who met in Central Juvenile Hall during the war on gangs, RAMP LA was founded on redemption, resilience, and the power of brotherhood. After decades of incarceration, they reunited in freedom, committed to building a program that creates real, lasting change.
Why this matters
Incarceration doesn’t create safer communities, healing does.
At RAMP LA, we believe punishment alone doesn’t heal pain — it deepens it. What most people call “bad behavior,” we see as unaddressed trauma. When a child grows up without love, safety, or a sense of belonging, they will find ways to survive.
Every person who heals becomes a source of safety for others.
That means less violence. Less crime. Fewer victims. Stronger families. Safer communities.
This is public safety through restoration — not incarceration.
